My favourites of YOUR favourites :-)

I am completely thrilled and overwhelmed with the responses I had asking for YOUR favourite images that you have taken yourself.  I received over 100 beautiful, touching photos - and as much as I'd love to feature them all I did have to choose.
Though it was hard!
Very hard!

I do hope you enjoy the beautiful photography I've shared here.  They are in no particular order.  And I love them for lots of reasons.
They move me.
Draw me in.
They are sweet.
Creative.
And some are perfect in their imperfections.

I love them all :-)

These are my Grandparents  They have woken up next to each other every day for over 60yrs and still smile.

Sarah Secker
This is our daughter Rilee, aged 2
She had been dancing around the room wearing only fairy wings and skirt and I was taking pics, she just stopped suddenly and started at me, and this was the result.
I have loved this image ever since, it's not the best quality but it always tugs on my heart when I see it or think about it

Jocelyn Pope
My eldest two boys running on the beach at sunset - I just love this photo and the feeling of freedom it gives...

I love the light in this, but most of all, I love his expression. It perfectly sums him up - if you knew him you'd know just how this catches him. It is raw too - imperfectly perfect.

Jacqui Shepperd
I just love this photo, something about where they are, just the two of them.

This is my son Axl.  He usually is moving too fast or puts on a silly 'cheese' smile. This here is his TRUE smile. Which of course, is my FAV sight in the world. He just looks so happy and grown up. :)

Piano Love | On Film

At the end of last year I photographed my favourite personal shoot to date!

I did shoot mostly on digital...for all the effort involved in pulling it together, I didn't quite trust my film skills at that stage (or now for that matter!).

But....I did still shoot a few rolls of film that I LOVE....and I'm finally getting around to blogging them :-)

Strawberry Delight

After being teased and enticed by many others photos and stories of visiting the strawberry farm, I finally took the kids on a school holiday day out!
Think...a punnet each.
Lucious, red strawberries.
To be found, picked (sampled!).

I was met with groans when I told the children yesterday that we'd be going.  'Do we haaaaaave to'.  But fresh air, punnets in hand and the lure of fresh strawberries was all they needed to declare it was fun.

I think we'll go back!

Canada....on film!!

Goodness...don't die of shock.  Some 5 months after we have arrived home from Canada I'm finally getting a chance to look at some of the 6000+ images I took.  Well, I'm only currently looking at the film ones...because I feel a tad overwhelmed (still!) with how many I have to sort of digital ones!

So for now...enjoy a trip to Western Canada in winter!
It really was the trip of a lifetime.
The kids will remember it forever.
And ever.

These were all taken on 35mm film (I didn't have room for my medium format!).  I didn't actually shoot so much film, so there are rather large chunks of the holiday not included in this lot!  But it's a general idea!

Vancouver
This is where we began.  With a week to recover from jet-lag and to gradually introduce us to the cold and very short days!

Whistler
With 10 days here to thoroughly enjoy the snow.  Skiing, snowboarding & beautiful powdery snow - that we shared with thousands of other tourists!
This is also where we enjoyed our first white christmas experience (santa still managed to find the kids!).

Lake Louise
Staying at Banff we made the short drive to Lake Louise a few times.  The ice sculptures were incredible (and the snowman that somewhere else had make in the middle of the lake was cool too!).

Banff
We had 10 days here before we headed back to BC.  Surrounded by snow but with blue skies it certainly was incredibly picturesque.
BUT...it was absolutely freezing!  Even our hair froze when we were in the hot tub!
Here we tried snow-shoeing, dog sledding, snow mobiling and tobogganing :-)
There were even some semi-tame reindeer at the resort we stayed at!
